Decades after his passing, the "fascination" with American rock legend Elvis Presley continues to sweep his fans, as a famous pair of his shoes was sold for a huge amount. According to U.S. news network CNN, the iconic blue suede shoes worn by the "King" were sold for $152,000 at the British auction house Henry Aldridge & Son. Bidding for the shoes, described as "a remarkable piece of memorabilia representing a phenomenon in 20th-century popular culture," started at $69,000 and reached $152,000. Presley wore the size 44 shoes on and off stage during the 1950s, according to the auction description. He donned the shoes while performing "I Want You, I Need You, I Love You" and "Hound Dog" on "The Steve Allen Show" in 1956, as stated by the auction seller. He later gifted the shoes to his friend Alan Fortas in 1958, the night before he left for U.S. military service. The authenticity of the information about the shoes was verified by Jimmy Velvet, a close friend of Presley and the founder of a private museum dedicated to the late artist.
