The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement: "As part of the ongoing efforts by the Internal Security Forces to combat thefts, and following a surge in home burglaries in the regions of Metn and Keserwan within Mount Lebanon, the latest of which occurred on 16-07-2024 in the Mazrat Yashou area, where unidentified individuals broke into a citizen's home and stole an amount of money totaling $8,000 and a gold chain, escaping to an unknown location.
In response, the Information Branch began its actions in the areas where the thefts occurred, and through continuous monitoring and intelligence efforts, the identities of the two suspects involved in the thefts were determined:
- A. T. (born in 1995, Syrian)
- H. H. (born in 1978, Syrian)
On 21-07-2024, following meticulous surveillance, the special forces of the branch carried out a simultaneous operation in the areas of Zouk Mosbeh and Jiyeita, resulting in the arrest of the two individuals and the seizure of their motorcycle used in the thefts. During a search of the first suspect's home, a large quantity of stolen goods was found.
Upon interrogation, they confessed to the accusations against them, admitting to having committed more than 50 thefts from homes through breaking and entering in the Metn and Keserwan regions, specifically in Mazrat Yashou, Zouk Mikail, Jounieh, Tabarja, Safra, Jbeil, Zouk Mosbeh, and Zouk Mikail. The seized items found in the first suspect's home are the result of those thefts.
Legal measures were taken against them, and they were referred along with the seized items to the competent authority based on judicial directives."
