In an inspiring tale of heroism, an Egyptian police officer saved several suspects, a driver, and a soldier after their police vehicle fell into a canal, despite suffering severe injuries. The police vehicle, carrying Officer Lieutenant Shahab Al-Sharif, three suspects, a soldier, and a driver, plunged into the waters of the Dakdouqi Canal on the Kafr El-Sheikh Desouk Road. After managing to escape from the car with great difficulty, the young officer was determined to rescue everyone with him from the water.
He retrieved the suspects one by one, astonishing local villagers who had come to witness the heroic scene, while cheers of encouragement erupted from those who witnessed the incident. Despite his serious injuries to his arms, hands, and various other areas, along with blood spread across his body, the officer was focused on getting everyone out of the water and ensuring their safety. He also took care to secure the firearms that were with the police force away from reckless hands.
One eyewitness, named Iman Al-Qadi, told Al-Arabiya.net that she was shocked to see the police car overturn in the canal right in front of her as she returned from her mother’s house. She said, "The scene was truly heroic, like something out of a movie, as the officer emerged from the water and carried the suspects one by one without help from anyone."
The witness confirmed that when the officer emerged, she and the gathering locals were surprised to see he had sustained serious injuries, stating, "He was covered in blood and had deep wounds in his arms." Some women offered to help the officer with his wounds and wash his blood-soaked clothes, but an ambulance took him to Desouk General Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Many eyewitnesses wondered about the officer’s condition after his significant injuries.
It seems that Lieutenant Shahab Al-Sharif is accustomed to heroic acts, as his pictures previously graced newspapers and news sites in 2015 when he risked his life to rescue an elderly man and a young man from the rubble of a collapsing building in the Al-Fogala area of Cairo in a truly heroic scene.
