June 2024 — Under LG's brand promise “Life's Good,” and with the aim of creating a better life for all, LG declared World Environment Day (WED) as Global Volunteering Day. Since 2010, the company has participated globally in volunteering efforts across its branch offices. First held on June 5, 1974, Eco Day raises awareness on environmental issues such as marine pollution, overpopulation, global warming, sustainable development, and wildlife crime. For nearly five decades, World Environment Day has aimed to raise awareness, support action, and drive changes for the environment while providing a global platform for public outreach.
In association with the Lebanon Reforestation Initiative (“LRI”), LG Electronics - Lebanon Branch organized an eco-friendly contribution activity through a reforestation event on June 14. Employees and management worked together to expand, manage, and protect Lebanon’s forests and biodiversity. At LRI’s plant nursery in Bologna, LG’s team voluntarily helped clean and clear the nursery’s road to minimize erosion and sedimentation, weed unwanted plants, transplant cedars to avoid root disturbance, and adopt trees to support LRI’s Sannine reforestation project. This project aims to create a corridor by planting more seedlings to reconnect the Lebanese mountains.
The vision of Lebanon Reforestation Initiative is to improve communities through sustainable management of forests and landscapes for environmental and community well-being. The project emphasizes making better humans who are responsible, respectful, reliable, and environmentally friendly. Since its inception in 2018, the Sannine Reforestation Project has planted 14,647 cedars, with a survival rate of 78%. The current goal is to fulfill the need for 100,000 seedlings to restore the cedar forests and create a bio corridor of “oxygen producers.”
LG Electronics considers the impact a company should have on people, the planet, and future generations. To achieve this, LG has proposed its 3C X 3D strategies at CES 2023, ensuring a “Better Life for All.” Key focuses include carbon neutrality by 2050, circularity through recycling and e-waste management, and the use of clean technology for energy-efficient products. For people, it aims to create decent workplaces, promote diversity and inclusion, and improve product accessibility through design.
LG has begun implementing its 3C X 3D strategies with upgradable appliances, heat pump technology, inverter DD motors, LG OLED TVs, and recycled packaging. On World Environment Day, the LG Electronics Levant – Lebanon Branch team celebrated at a local community restaurant, toasting this joyful event and looking forward to brighter days ahead.
