The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced the killing of 5 Kurdish militants who attempted to infiltrate from Iraqi Kurdistan, warning the world's arrogant powers against recruiting opponents of the Iranian revolution and regime to execute their plans.
The command of the "Hamza Seyyed al-Shuhada" camp, a ground force belonging to the IRGC, stated that its forces, during precise surveillance operations, engaged with an anti-revolutionary terrorist team that was planning to enter Iranian territory from the northwestern border from Iraqi Kurdistan.
They added that the IRGC ground forces managed to kill several Kurdish militants after ambushing them, leaving some attackers injured and seizing a number of military equipment.
The command warned the "world's arrogant powers" against recruiting opponents of the Iranian revolution and regime to carry out their plots, asserting that "any such action will be met with a decisive and firm response."
Iranian officials have demanded that the Iraqi side, particularly the Kurdistan Regional Government, disarm the Kurdish opposition groups operating in the mountainous areas of the region.
Over the past years, tensions have arisen between Tehran and Erbil, reaching the point where the IRGC has shelled areas in the region with ballistic missiles and drones, claiming the presence of Iranian Kurdish opponents and movements by Mossad against Iran's security, which the Kurdish Regional Government has denied.
In early May, the President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Nechirvan Barzani, visited Tehran and met with senior officials, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Barzani stated from Tehran that his authorities would not allow any third party to jeopardize Iranian security during his meeting with the Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, Ali Akbar Ahmadian.
