Southgate Departs from England Coaching

Gareth Southgate, the head coach of the England national team, has officially announced his departure from coaching the Three Lions. In an official statement reported by several English newspapers, Southgate said: "As an Englishman, it was an honor for me to play for England and to coach England. It meant everything to me, and I gave it my all."

He added: "But it is time for a change for a new chapter. The final match on Sunday in Berlin against Spain was my last match as coach of England." Southgate continued: "I joined the FA in 2011, determined to improve English football. During that time, including 8 years as the England manager, I received support from wonderful people whom I thank from the bottom of my heart."

He stated, "I couldn't have asked for a better person by my side than Steve Holland. He is one of the most talented coaches of his generation, and he has been fantastic." Southgate remarked: "I have had the honor of leading a great group of players in 102 matches. Each one of them was proud to wear the shirt bearing the Three Lions logo, and they have been a source of pride for their country in many ways."

He continued: "The team that we took to Germany is filled with exciting young talent, and they can win the trophy we all dream of. I am very proud of them, and I hope we support the players and the team." Southgate expressed a special thanks to his support team who provided players and himself with unwavering support over the past eight years, saying, "Their efforts and commitment inspired me every day, and I am very grateful to them. They are the wonderful group behind this team."

He noted, "We have the best fans in the world, and their support meant a lot to me. I am a fan of England and will always be one." He concluded: "I look forward to watching the players and celebrating them as they continue to make exceptional memories... We know they can do it... Thank you, England - for everything."

It should be noted that Southgate led England to the finals of the Euros twice consecutively, but lost to Italy in a penalty shootout and to Spain (2-1), and also reached the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup.
