One Centimeter Away From Death: Trump

The United States and the entire world are still in shock following the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. In a phone call with "Fox News" on Sunday, Trump expressed that he is "shocked by what happened", confirming he feels "lucky to be here today." He also quoted his doctor as saying, "If the position of the bullet had changed by one centimeter, I wouldn't be talking now."

The incident occurred while Trump was delivering a speech to a crowd of supporters at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday. Secret Service agents immediately escorted the former president away from the rally site, while blood was running down his face, having been shot in the upper part of his right ear. As he was being taken away, the Republican presidential candidate raised his fist in defiance before the crowd.

The Secret Service stated in a press release that their officers killed the assailant after he opened fire from the roof of a building about 140 meters away from the rally stage where Trump was speaking. One person present at the scene was killed, while two attendees were critically injured. The FBI identified the shooter as "Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, from Bethel, Pennsylvania."

U.S. media reports indicated that the gunman had explosives in his vehicle. The "Wall Street Journal" and "CNN" reported that explosive materials were found in the car belonging to shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks, which was parked near the location of the campaign rally in Pennsylvania. Additionally, a semi-automatic rifle, an AR-15, was discovered near the body, according to sources. Furthermore, networks like "ABC" and the "Wall Street Journal" reported that the suspect's father had legally purchased the firearm.
