"To Confront Israel": Will Turkey Send Its Forces to Lebanon?

Former Foreign Ministry Director and former Israeli Ambassador to Turkey Alon Liel commented on the possibility of a "Turkish invasion of Israel" in light of recent threats from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan regarding intervention in the war between Israel and Hamas. According to the "Jerusalem Post," Liel stated: "Erdoğan hints that he may try to increase military assistance to help the Palestinians in their fight against Israel, whether Hamas or those fighting in the West Bank." He added: "He has attempted this before when he established a headquarters in Turkey aimed at conducting military operations and smuggling weapons and transferring funds to purchase arms. However, it is unlikely that Erdoğan, known for his irrational actions, will send Turkish soldiers to invade Israel." Liel also referred to the front with Lebanon, saying: "If something significant happens in Lebanon, Erdoğan views any Israeli entry into Lebanon as a halfway point towards him. At that point, he could send forces to Lebanon, and he has done this in the past, including sending destroyers and combat ships to the Lebanese territorial waters."
