Cost of Addressing the Hamat Tunnel Collapse

The Minister of Public Works and Transport in the caretaker government, Ali Hamieh, announced the commencement of work to address the collapse that occurred on the highway at the Hamat tunnel during a visit to the site of the collapse, which happened six years ago. In his speech, Hamieh stated: "The matter of the Hamat tunnel is like the story of a teapot, and we hope that we can, in cooperation with everyone, conclude this story after years of suffering for our people. The funding is available, the contracting company is ready, support from the MPs is present, as well as the Ministry of Public Works, and there are no longer any excuses or reasons preventing the implementation of these works within six months to make this road safe for our people, especially in the north and in Lebanon in general." He pointed out that "the work to be carried out at this location will cost more than 6 million dollars, and it is not a donation but rather from state allocations and state funds."
