Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov warned during a United Nations Security Council meeting that Israel's neighbors, including Lebanon, are threatened with being drawn into a widespread confrontation with it. Lavrov, who chairs the Security Council session on the Middle East, stated, "In addition to the military operation in the occupied Palestinian territories, its other neighbors are also at risk of being drawn into a large-scale confrontation with Israel." He particularly emphasized the daily increase in tension along the blue line separating Lebanon and Israel. Lavrov underscored the need for open dialogue to stop the bloodshed in the region and reach a long-term settlement. Previously, Lavrov considered the outbreak of violence in the Middle East to be a result of failed U.S. policies in the region. The border between Lebanon and Israel continues to experience ongoing tension and mutual shelling amid international efforts to contain the conflict, fearing its escalation into a full-scale war.
