Memorandum of Understanding Between the Association of Industrialists and the Port of Beirut

The Lebanese Association of Industrialists, represented by its president Selim Al-Zahni, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Management and Investment Committee of the Port of Beirut, represented by the General Director of the Temporary Committee for the Management and Investment of the Port of Beirut, Omar Aitani. This memorandum outlines a framework for cooperation between the two parties to serve the industry and the national economy.

The memorandum, signed during a meeting held at the association's headquarters, aims to create a suitable ground for continuous consultation and coordination between the association and the port administration regarding all transactions and activities related to national industry. It also primarily aims to provide preferential treatment for industrialists who are members of the association.

Al-Zahni welcomed Aitani and his accompanying delegation, expressing hope that this memorandum would serve as a foundation for building constructive and mutual cooperation. He called for the re-establishment of a free industrial zone at the port, citing its significant positive impact on marketing and increasing exports of industrial products. He congratulated Aitani and his team for their efforts and the improvements made in the port's operations and services.

For his part, Aitani pointed out that the memorandum aims to support national industry, facilitate matters for industrialists, and provide them with support through the preferential treatment they will receive. He confirmed that the management and investment of the Port of Beirut is working to improve the efficiency of its operations, especially concerning the scanner and controlling smuggling.

He affirmed that "today's agreement is just the beginning," promising further cooperation between the port and the association for the benefit of the country, industry, and the national economy.
