Naguib Sawiris Provokes Reactions with His Response on Gaza

Egyptian businessman Naguib Sawiris sparked reactions with his reply to a question on the platform "X" (formerly Twitter) about why he hasn't been speaking about the casualties in Gaza, following the death and injury of dozens of Palestinians in an airstrike on a school in Gaza.

A user on "X" posed a question to Sawiris, stating: "Why aren't you talking about the massacres in Gaza? Even though you discuss everything else easily, are you not pained like us or are you on Israel's side?"

In his response, Sawiris wrote in a post on his official account on the same platform on Sunday: "Honestly, I am tired of seeing this massacre. I feel like we have become weak in a humiliating way. I can never agree to the killing of the innocent and children and the abduction of women that happened by Hamas on October 7!"

The Egyptian businessman added: "I also believe that condemnation and denunciation will not change anything against a brutal and oppressive enemy like this, but God is great and cannot accept what is happening," as he described.

Another user on "X" reacted by addressing Sawiris: "Unfortunately, your hint about October 7 and Hamas is misplaced. Before October 7, Palestinians were being killed and oppressed every day, and no one spoke about it. October 7 is what brought the Palestinian issue back to the minds of the world; that's my opinion. Can you accept it? Best regards to you."

Sawiris responded to this by stating: "This is true, October 7 revived the Palestinian issue and brought it back to the international arena, but the price is steep: 40,000 innocent souls and total destruction of Gaza."
