The Presidents of the UAE and Indonesia Discuss Cooperation and Comprehensive Economic Partnership

The President of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, discussed with the President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, the development of strategic relations between the two countries, particularly in developmental areas within the framework of their comprehensive economic partnership. Both leaders expressed their mutual commitment to advancing this partnership, contributing to the visions of both nations for sustainable development and prosperity.

At the start of their talks held at Al Watan Palace in Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed welcomed President Widodo's visit to his second home, the UAE, which culminates a significant journey of fruitful relations and constructive collaboration for the benefit of their peoples.

The two sides reviewed various aspects of collaboration, especially in economic, investment, renewable energy, food security, infrastructure, education, health, climate action, and the environment, among other areas representing the priorities for sustainable development in both countries.

During the meeting, the UAE president expressed his appreciation for President Widodo's important role in enhancing the relations between the two countries, highlighting his personal interest in providing all means for the advancement of these ties. He also valued working with President Joko Widodo over the past years to develop the bilateral relations and enhance their common interests.

He stated, "We have achieved significant accomplishments in this path, whether in the fields of renewable energy, trade, food security, infrastructure, transport, education, health, climate action, and others." He added that signing the comprehensive economic partnership agreement in 2022 marked a qualitative turning point that contributed to expanding the horizons of economic cooperation and serving the mutual development of both the UAE and Indonesia.

He noted, "When President Joko Widodo took office in Indonesia in 2014, the volume of non-oil trade between the UAE and Indonesia was $2.7 billion. Last year, it reached $4.4 billion, along with agreements on projects exceeding $21 billion in Indonesia during 2023. We still look forward to new qualitative investments between the two countries."

The UAE president pointed out that the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Solo, Joko Widodo Street, and Joko Widodo Mosque in Abu Dhabi, in addition to Mohammed bin Zayed Street and the "Mohammed bin Zayed - Joko Widodo Center for Mangrove Research," as well as the Mohammed bin Zayed College of Future Studies in Indonesia, will remain symbols of the depth of their friendship and a source of inspiration for future generations in both countries, embodying the uniqueness of their relations.
