Osama Hamdan, a leader in Hamas, confirmed that the movement agreed to the mediators' proposals for a ceasefire in Gaza, but he mentioned that Israel does not want to stop its attacks. Hamdan stated, "We agreed to the serious proposals of the mediators, but Israel does not want to stop its aggression." He pointed out that "Israel is trying to pressure Hamas by escalating its military operations."
In a comment on the Deir al-Balah attack, he said, "What happened in Deir al-Balah is a continuation of the genocidal scheme being carried out by the Israeli occupation." Hamdan concluded, "Israel continues to lie by claiming that the Khadija school is a leadership complex for the movement."
On Saturday, dozens of Palestinians were killed or injured in Israeli shelling that targeted the Khadija school, which shelters displaced persons and has a field hospital in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza Strip, according to the Palestinian news agency (Wafa). Local sources reported that Israeli planes bombed the school west of Deir al-Balah, leading to the deaths of at least 30 Palestinians, including children and women, as well as injuring dozens with serious wounds. It was noted that rescue teams and civil defense continue to retrieve bodies, and the death toll could rise at any moment.
