Lebanese tennis player Benjamin Hassan made a historic achievement at the 33rd Summer Olympic Games 2024, currently taking place in the French capital, Paris. He became the first Lebanese player to win a match in tennis at the Olympic Games, following his victory over American Christopher Eubanks in straight sets, with scores of (6-4) and (6-2) in their first-round match held yesterday, Sunday, during the tennis competitions at the Paris 2024 Olympics. The Lebanese player, ranked 170th in the world, will face 12th-ranked Argentine Sebastian Baez in the second round, who also triumphed over Brazilian Thiago Monteiro, ranked 144th, in straight sets. Benjamin Hassan, 29 years old, told reporters: "I am incredibly happy; we are enjoying the win as a whole team; we are really proud, and I am proud of myself as well." He added: "The atmosphere was unbelievable; I was just trying to stay calm because I didn't want to waste too much energy. When I won, I was able to let everything out."
