As part of the Kingdom of Bahrain's presidency of the 33rd Arab Summit, Ahmed Mohammed Al-Tarifi, Head of the Arab and African Affairs Sector, participated in the "Mediators' Retreat on the Situation in Sudan," held in Djibouti on July 25-26. The retreat was attended by representatives from 32 countries and regional and international organizations, in collaboration with the Arab League, the African Union, the United Nations, the European Union, and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), aiming to explore international initiatives and efforts to achieve peace in Sudan.
In his speech, the Head of the Arab and African Affairs Sector referred to the outcomes of the Bahrain Summit held in May, where Arab countries emphasized the importance of solidarity with Sudan and categorically rejected any foreign intervention in its internal affairs. They also reaffirmed Sudan's sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity. He reiterated Bahrain's position on the necessity of utilizing all diplomatic channels to encourage the Sudanese parties towards a comprehensive and sustainable peaceful resolution. Furthermore, he called on the international community to support the Sudanese people and provide necessary assistance to humanitarian organizations operating in Sudan, stressing the importance of supporting economic initiatives and infrastructure development to rebuild Sudan and achieve lasting stability.
