The Kataeb Party: "Hezbollah" Turns Lebanese into Human Shields

The Kataeb Party:

The Kataeb political bureau held a meeting chaired by party leader MP Sami Gemayel, and after reviewing the data regarding the escalation of confrontations and the collapse of institutions, it issued the following statement: "1- After Hezbollah armed itself and used its weapons internally on multiple intimidating and threatening occasions, violating Lebanon's sovereignty and embroiling it in Iran’s regional projects, it now goes deeper by digging tunnels within the ground, infringing upon state sovereignty and the private property of Lebanese citizens simultaneously to protect its military arsenal in an unacceptable assault on the rights of Lebanon as a state and its people, wielded through illegal weapons and the state’s submission to its will. The political bureau considers that positioning rockets and shells between homes turns Lebanese people into human shields, taking them into a war they do not want without anyone consulting them before involving them in it. 2- The electricity farce continues in Lebanon with one scandal after another, and if it proves anything, it is the level of negligence and degradation that has not only struck public administrations and institutions but also the conscience of those who were supposed to be entrusted with them. Leaving the country in total darkness during the darkest phase it has been through to spend a summer vacation, or rather to evade responsibility, is the greatest evidence that the time has come to close these worn-out shops and give the private sector a deserved opportunity to emerge from the current administrative, political, and service-related decay for the sake of the Lebanese people, rather than begging for fuel from friendly nations. 3- Despite all developments, the Kataeb Party believes there is no place for despair, as the Lebanese have gone through similar or even harsher circumstances and, through their resilience and faith in this homeland, managed to overcome all crises, occupations, and attempts at intimidation."
