Dinner in Paris... Scandals and Advice

The opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics has been intensified worldwide, featuring the scene of the Last Supper, inspired by the famous painting of the same name by the painter and genius of the European Renaissance, Da Vinci. However, more significant than the painting, no matter how timeless its greatness, is the religious meaning of the Last Supper in Christian consciousness, which the organizers of the Paris event mocked by depicting Christ and his disciples as a group of mentally ill sexual deviants and transgender individuals.

What is striking is this "global outcry," particularly from Europe and the West, against this collapse, drift, and Western neoliberal audacity. We will not delve into the institutions, countries, and prominent figures from the East and South of the world, such as the Coptic Church or even the Russian President Putin, where it is strange that they do not condemn this Olympic madness in Paris. However, there are notable Western figures who have stood against the Paris scandal, including priests from French churches and other civil forces in France, as well as figures from Britain, Hungary, and the rest of Europe, as well as Australia and America, expressing their outrage at the mockery of Christian religious sanctities by these sexual deviants.

Among the notable personalities rejecting the perversion of the Paris event is Turkish President Erdoğan, who stated: "Macron invited me. I said I might come. But my 13-year-old granddaughter told me not to go there… They are going to organize a show for the LGBTQ+ community. She showed me pictures on Instagram."

However, the global political reality indicates that the political wing of the LGBTQ+ community is in a global alliance with political Islam movements in the West. One of the most telling images of this is the involvement of Ilhan Omar, the American representative of Somali origin, known for rallying support for the Brotherhood and Iran, in all the events and demonstrations of LGBTQ+ individuals in America (photos and videos can be found online).

We also remember the feminist demonstrations by the "Femen" group, known for their topless protests to express political dissent, which they staged in front of the Egyptian embassy in Paris—once again, Paris—supporting the Egyptian Brotherhood and demanding the release of their prisoners in Egypt, foremost among them the Brotherhood President Mohamed Morsi!

This reminder was prompted by a comment made by Professor Mamdouh Al-Muhaini in his article here in this newspaper, where he said: "The paradox is that the political Islam groups in France did not raise their voices or express outrage this time, despite their leaders inciting against our moderate countries solely because they seek to renew religious thought. The reason is simple: political interests come first. Their allies on the left support these celebrations, while their enemies on the right are the ones who are angry about them."

This is indeed a revealing scene.
