Macron Discusses Middle East Developments with Qatari Emir and Starmer

A statement from the office of French President Emmanuel Macron indicated that "he had a phone call today on Friday with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, during which he reiterated his call for a ceasefire in Gaza." The statement also noted that "Macron confirmed that France will continue to work within the United Nations peacekeeping force 'UNIFIL' to help maintain stability in Lebanon." Macron had also spoken with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi yesterday, Thursday. In this context, a statement from Macron's office mentioned that "he discussed with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer the latest developments in Ukraine and the need to avoid any escalation in the Middle East conflict during a phone call today, Friday."
