Indonesian police announced on Wednesday that they have discovered the remains of a woman inside a crocodile, noting that local authorities killed the animal after slitting its belly to retrieve parts of the victim. Halima Rahakbau, a 54-year-old woman, was swimming in a river near Walik village in the Maluku Islands of Eastern Indonesia when she was attacked by the crocodile. One of the victim's neighbors, Rustam Elias, stated that her relatives and friends began searching for her after she was delayed in returning home. Rustam Elias mentioned, "The crocodile was very large, nearly 4 meters long." After they found a sandal and body parts floating in the river, they reported it to the police, who intervened, located the crocodile, and killed it. A local police officer said, "The residents had to open the crocodile's belly to remove parts of the victim's body."
