Dubai Police arrested Faisal Taghi, a 24-year-old Dutch national, following the issuance of an international arrest warrant against him for drug trafficking, money laundering, human trafficking, and managing the criminal organization known as the "Angels of Death." The Dubai Police General Command stated that the operation to apprehend the suspect was carried out in fruitful cooperation with both the Dutch police and Interpol.
Dubai Police acted after receiving the international arrest warrant from the Dutch authorities, which was communicated to the International Cooperation Department of the UAE Ministry of Justice, the central authority responsible for receiving official international cooperation requests. Faisal Taghi was then referred to the Public Prosecution in Dubai and handed over to the relevant judicial authorities according to legal procedures.
In 2019, Dubai Police had arrested his father, Ridwan Taghi, considered one of the most dangerous criminal elements wanted internationally and listed by Interpol. Due to the crimes attributed to him, the Dutch authorities labeled him as "the most dangerous criminal," leading the "Angels of Death" organization, responsible for over 300 different crimes, including assassination and murder.
Ridwan Taghi is classified by Interpol as one of the world's most wanted criminals and the leader of one of the deadliest gangs globally. At that time, the Dutch authorities had offered a reward of 100,000 euros for any information leading to his arrest, which was ultimately executed by Dubai Police. He is currently serving a life sentence in the Netherlands.
Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte praised the UAE's efforts and security cooperation in combating transnational organized crime following the handover of the wanted Faisal Taghi from Dubai Police to Dutch authorities.
