The Islamic Resistance Movement "Hamas" called today, Thursday, for a "Day of Rage" among citizens after Friday prayers, coinciding with the funeral of its political bureau chief Ismail Haniya, who will be buried in the Qatari capital, Doha. The Palestinian movement stated in a press release: "O crowds of our proud Palestinian people, and O crowds of our Arab and Islamic nation: We invite you to perform the absent prayer for the soul of the martyr leader Ismail Haniya, tomorrow after Friday prayers, in every mosque, in loyalty to him, his message, and the blood of the martyrs."
It added: "Let the roaring marches of rage commence from every mosque, condemning the cowardly assassination crime, denouncing the continuation of the genocide war against our people in the Gaza Strip, and defending our land, our Al-Quds, and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque."
Following Friday prayers, Haniya will be laid to rest in Qatar, where he had been residing with other members of Hamas' political bureau, after a prayer service at the Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahab Mosque, the largest mosque in Doha. Haniya and his personal aide were assassinated at their residence in the Iranian capital Tehran early Wednesday in a strike attributed to Israel.
Large crowds participated in Haniya's funeral on Thursday morning in Tehran amidst calls for revenge. "Hamas" also urged "the crowds of our revolutionary people in the occupied West Bank to make tomorrow, Friday, a day of fierce rage against the criminal Zionist occupation and its terrorist settlers, and a victory and support for our people in Gaza who are subjected to a continuous genocide war, affirming our commitment to our land and national rights, and confronting the occupation's schemes aimed at liquidating our cause and judaizing our Holy City and Al-Aqsa."
