"The Crisis Will Definitely Pass" - Army Commander: Do Not Lose Hope in Your Country!

Army Commander General Joseph Aoun addressed the military in a message on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the army, saying: "O soldiers, seventy-nine years of honor, sacrifice, and loyalty to our country, which is being buffeted by the winds of challenges and crises. It remains steadfast thanks to its army, which proves day after day that its heroic men are committed to their oath. They have written feats in facing enemies from the Israeli foe to terrorism, passing through those who disrupt security and violate the law. The army has offered its finest youth over years of dedication and sacrifice to defend Lebanon and its people; some have sacrificed their blood either as martyrs or wounded, in devotion to the sacred mission, which remains a priority for them."

He added, "O soldiers, our homeland faces the harshest political, financial, and social crises, in addition to the daily threats represented by the aggressions from the Israeli enemy, which result in casualties, destruction, and displacement. Meanwhile, efforts to calm the situation and stop the aggressions continue, aiming for a permanent ceasefire. The military units deployed in the south are coordinating with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, within the framework of Resolution 1701, hoping that our south will regain calm and our people will enjoy security and stability. At the same time, you continue your efforts to maintain security and control the borders in all regions, undeterred by all campaigns targeting the military institution for obvious purposes. Yet, you become more determined, enhancing the Lebanese people's confidence in their homeland, contributing to the return of expatriates to their homeland, while the leadership continues to stand by you and provide you with the necessities for your steadfastness. Your sense of patriotism and drive make you a source of hope and a guarantee for the unity and continuity of Lebanon, elevating our pride in you, and thereby you earn a distinguished place in the hearts of the Lebanese and among the international community."

He continued, "O soldiers, your sacrifices are the guarantee for Lebanon's survival. Hold on to your motto: the motto of honor, sacrifice, and loyalty. Remain steadfast in your institution, which does not abandon you or your families. To our youth who aspire to build their future abroad, we urge them to cling to their homeland because it needs them, and the military institution needs them as well. It is ready to welcome them into its ranks so that together we can defend our homeland."

Aoun concluded, "Do not lose hope in your country, for the crisis will surely pass, Lebanon will regain its brilliance and prosperity, and the Lebanese people will restore their status in their region. Lebanon deserves all our sacrifices, and together we can rise again."
