The traffic at Rafic Hariri International Airport in Beirut continues to operate at a nearly normal daily pace despite the ongoing political and security developments in Lebanon and the region. These developments have impacted the entire Lebanese reality, along with changes in the scheduling of flights by several national, Arab, and foreign airlines using this vital facility.
It is noteworthy that passenger traffic at the airport saw an increase in the number of arrivals to Lebanon compared to departures in July. The total number of passengers at the airport in July reached 751,034, raising the overall passenger count from the beginning of the year to the end of July to 3,750,999. In comparison, the number for the first seven months of the previous year (2023) was 4,109,962.
The airport traffic in July 2024 was distributed as follows:
- The total number of passengers who used the airport in July was 751,034, reflecting a decrease of 18.7% compared to July 2023.
- Among these, 411,320 were arrivals to Lebanon, showing an 18.3% decrease from the same month last year, while 339,250 were departures, down by 19%. There were also 464 transit passengers, falling by 19.8%.
With the end of July 2024, the aggregate total of passengers through the airport from the beginning of the year until the end of July stands at 3,750,999, marking an 8.7% decline from the same period in the previous year (2023).
On the aircraft movement front, the total number of commercial flights by national, Arab, and foreign airlines that utilized the airport in July was 5,664, representing a decrease of 13.44% compared to July 2023. This included 2,832 arrivals to Lebanon (down by 13.42%) and another 2,832 departures from Lebanon (decreasing by 13.47% compared to July 2023).
