"They Tortured Her with the Help of His Wife": Arrest of Suspects in the Murder of a Girl in Baghdad

The Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of a man and his wife on charges of murdering a girl in the capital, Baghdad. The spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior and the security media cell, Brigadier Mukdad Miri, stated in a report that "the Baghdad Criminal Investigation Directorate arrested a man and his second wife for killing a minor girl after torturing her in the Al-Hussain neighborhood of Baghdad." He added that "the arrest took place after the investigative papers related to the incident were immediately transferred to the Al-‘Amal neighborhood's criminal investigation office, and due to the importance of the matter, a work team was formed under the supervision of the Baghdad Criminal Investigation Directorate to follow up on the issue." Miri explained that "through investigation and information gathering, and after significant and excellent efforts, they were able to identify the perpetrators and arrest them. During the interrogation, they explicitly confessed to torturing the girl until she died," noting that "the investigative papers were presented to the investigating judge, who decided to detain them according to the law to receive their just punishment."
