Elon Musk, owner of the startup Neuralink, announced that the company has successfully implanted its brain chip, designed to give patients with paralysis the ability to use digital devices through thought alone, in a second patient participating in its clinical trial. Currently, Neuralink is in the process of testing its device, which aims to assist individuals with spinal cord injuries in engaging in various activities, including playing video games, browsing the internet, posting on social media, and moving the mouse cursor on a laptop. Musk did not provide many details about the second participant during a more than eight-hour-long online audio broadcast (podcast) released late on Friday, other than stating that he has a spinal cord injury similar to the first patient, who was paralyzed in a diving accident. Musk mentioned that the company expects to perform the same procedure on eight more patients participating in its clinical trial within this year.
