The "Judges Club of Lebanon" announced in a statement that "August 4, 2020, was a day when the capital shook, the nation was stricken, and innocent people fell victim in their homes and on the streets. This crime shocked the conscience of humanity as a whole, but it has not stirred the consciences of some relevant officials in Lebanon. Four years after this dreadful tragedy, justice remains unfulfilled for multiple reasons: misuse of rights by some suspects who repeatedly file recusal requests, requests for transfer due to legitimate suspicion, and requests for litigation before the General Assembly of the disrupted Court of Cassation; the stopping of prosecution processes for nearly a year and a half; political interventions; threats against the investigating judge and some other judges; and obstacles to prevent the formation of the General Assembly of the Court of Cassation."
The statement added: "What is required today is that the Parliament, the Supreme Judicial Council, the Court of Cassation Prosecutor, and the relevant ministers perform their roles according to the law, allowing the investigating judge to continue his work and properly advance the investigations towards their goals, ultimately revealing the truth and establishing justice for the victims on one hand, and for the accused and suspects to declare either conviction or acquittal on the other hand."
The statement emphasized that "the Judges Club of Lebanon, while reaffirming its previous statements regarding the Beirut port explosion, calls upon everyone to take a bold stand for justice with their conscience, for delayed justice is equivalent to injustice for the victims, the accused, and the suspects."
