The Minister of Finance in the caretaker government, Yusuf Khalil, signed a decision extending the deadline for tax payment and the declaration of profits achieved by individuals and legal entities resulting from transactions conducted on the Sayrafa platform, subject to the tax stipulations in Article 93 of the general budget law for 2024, until September 30, 2024. This decision is aimed at providing taxpayers with the opportunity to comply with their obligations and avoid penalties.
Regarding the income tax declaration on salaries and wages and total annual individual statements, the Ministry of Finance issued a statement: "The Ministry of Finance wishes to inform all taxpayers who have not yet submitted their annual income tax declarations for salaries and wages for the year 2023 of the necessity to fulfill their tax obligations by no later than August 30, 2024, to avoid exposure to legal penalties. It is noted that if there are technical issues preventing the electronic submission of declarations in the tax system, taxpayers can contact the tax administration via email at eservicesqa@finance.gov.lb."
The announcement further stated: "Since the Ministry of Finance has implemented the annual declaration form for income tax on salaries and wages (R5) and individual annual statements (R6) and total annual statement (R7) for the years 2022 and beyond, and since the Ministry has completed entering user/employee registration requests (form R3) for the year 2023, the individual tax numbers of the employees have been included on their employers’ tax page, making it possible to submit the annual declarations for the year 2023. The deadline for the annual declaration for the year 2023 has been extended until August 30, 2024, pursuant to Decision No. 814/1 dated August 1, 2024."
