The Libyan Crisis... Algeria Calls for Restraint

The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on Saturday evening regarding the recent situation and developments in Libya. The ministry stated, "Algeria fully shares the concerns expressed by the United Nations regarding the recent mobilization and accumulation of forces in various regions of Libya, especially in the southern and western areas." It added, "Given the numerous obstacles facing the peaceful resolution process of the crisis in Libya, Algeria considers that halting confrontations between the conflicting parties is an extremely important gain that must be preserved at all costs."

Algeria called on all Libyan parties to exercise wisdom and restraint to spare their country the repercussions of renewed confrontations, which would harm the common goals of finding a peaceful solution to the crisis, achieving national reconciliation, and reuniting institutions, especially security ones. Algeria emphasized the importance of putting an end to foreign interventions and opening a new era of security, stability, and prosperity in Libya.
