The Anadolu Agency reported today, Tuesday, that Turkish police arrested an 18-year-old masked individual after he injured five people in a stabbing attack in the city of Eskişehir in northwestern Turkey. Separate media reports indicated that the attacker was wearing a helmet, a face covering, and a bullet-proof vest when he stabbed five people in a park outside a mosque, two of whom are in critical condition. Turkish media aired a video believed to have been recorded by the assailant as he rushed through the park while people fled from him.
The Anadolu Agency noted that the attacker was under the influence of video games during the commission of the crime, although the source of this information was not clarified. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya stated today that police arrested the suspect in what he described as a random attack. The Justice Minister mentioned via social media that prosecutors are investigating the incident.
