The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated, "Israel has only one option: to achieve victory, and the Prime Minister's directives are binding on everyone, including Defense Minister Yoav Gallant." Netanyahu's office added, "Gallant should have attacked the head of Hamas' political bureau, Yahya Sinwar, who refuses to send a delegation for negotiations and remains the obstacle to the deal." They noted, "When Gallant adopts anti-Israel rhetoric, he harms the chances of reaching a deal." Israeli Channel 12 reported that close associates of Netanyahu indicated that "the Prime Minister is not currently considering dismissing Gallant despite the disagreement." Earlier today, Gallant stated that "Israel is the reason for the delay in finalizing the deal for the release of the captives, and talk of an absolute victory is pure nonsense."
