London ranks first globally for the highest rents for one-bedroom apartments as of August this year, while Cairo holds the last position. According to open data reported by the "Novosti" agency, in August, the highest amount for renting a one-bedroom apartment in central London is $2,800, and $2,100 for a unit in the suburbs.
Washington, D.C. comes in second place, with the same apartment costing $2,500 in the city center and $2,000 outside. Dublin, the capital of Ireland, ranks third at $2,200 per month for a one-bedroom apartment in the city center and $1,900 in the suburbs.
Joining the top five are Amsterdam in the Netherlands and Reykjavik in Iceland, where renting the same apartment costs around $2,000 and $1,800 in the suburbs, respectively.
Meanwhile, Moscow ranks 33rd among the capitals included in the study, with an average rent of $682, according to analysts from the Russian company "Tsyan."
Cairo was found to be the cheapest, with the cost of a one-bedroom apartment in the city center at $209 and $136 in the suburbs. Following Cairo are New Delhi in India, where central housing costs $268 and $151 outside, and Hanoi in Vietnam, with rents at $339 and $225 in the suburbs.
Among the ten most expensive capitals, Brasilia in Brazil has an average monthly rent of $297, Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina at $310, Dushanbe in Tajikistan at $325, Baku in Azerbaijan at $363, Minsk in Belarus at $374, Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan at $416, and Buenos Aires in Argentina at $426.
