The "Coordination of Iraqi Resistance" announced today, Monday, that it will respond if Iran is subjected to American bombing through Iraqi airspace. The coordination stated in a statement: "With the continued transgressions of the forces of arrogance in their brutal and treacherous attacks against the people and their resistance fighters, they continue to sponsor and support the security of the Zionist entity at the expense of the region’s security, disregarding the sovereignty of Iraq or the countries that reject their criminal policies."
It added that "the Coordination of Iraqi Resistance is not bound by any constraints. If the U.S. occupying forces become involved again in targeting our sons in Iraq, or exploit its airspace to carry out attacks against the Islamic Republic of Iran; our response then will not be limited by any ceilings."
This comes after U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken conveyed a stern message to Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani regarding the intention of Iran-aligned armed factions to escalate against U.S. forces in Iraq and the region. Blinken affirmed that the U.S. administration is prepared to do whatever it takes to protect its forces and interests, while sources reported that al-Sudani pointed out that he is working diligently to prevent any escalation from the factions opposed to U.S. interests. However, the sources indicated that al-Sudani, in turn, requested U.S. guarantees against launching new attacks on Popular Mobilization Forces and affiliated factions, so that he could maintain calm between the two sides.
