The head of the National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research in Egypt, Taha Tawfik Rabah, revealed details about the earthquake in Syria. The institute indicated that the stations of the national seismic monitoring network recorded an earthquake in Syria on Monday, 12/08/2024, approximately 533 kilometers northeast of Rafah. Rabah stated that the details of the earthquake are as follows:

- **Magnitude:** 5.42 on the Richter scale

- **Latitude:** 35.39 North

- **Longitude:** 37.27 East

- **Depth:** 29.54 km

He confirmed that the institute has not received any reports indicating that the tremor was felt or that any losses in lives or property occurred in Egypt. Following the earthquake that affected Syria and several other countries, including Lebanon, Jordan, and Palestine, the National Earthquake Center in Syria announced that 13 aftershocks were recorded. The center stated in a statement: "Monitoring stations recorded 13 aftershocks east of Hama city until 8:00 AM today, the largest of which was 5.3 on the Richter scale, while the subsequent tremors were weaker aftershocks."
