Abu Dhabi is solidifying its position as a global center for hosting the largest and most important mixed martial arts championships throughout the year, attracting millions of fans of sports such as jiu-jitsu, judo, UFC, and muay thai. Today, the first edition of the "Arab Muay Thai Championship: Fight Night," organized by the Arab Federation, will kick off, featuring 28 fighters from 14 countries. This event follows last week's Emirates Open Muay Thai Championship, which saw the participation of over 551 male and female athletes from various clubs in the country.
The UAE Boxing Federation is set to host the "Asian Championship for Junior and Young Athletes" on August 28 at the Adnec Center in Al Ain, under the supervision of the Asian and International Boxing Federations. In November, Abu Dhabi will host the premier jiu-jitsu event globally, the "Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship," with the participation of elite players from around the world in its 16th edition. Abu Dhabi also hosted the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship in May, which saw participation from over 1,500 athletes representing 30 countries.
The highlight for the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation this season was the announcement of the Sheikh Khalid Bin Mohammed Bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship, which will organize 5 rounds throughout the season. Last week, Abu Dhabi hosted the World MMA Championship for Juniors for the third consecutive time, with over 800 athletes representing 45 countries.
Furthermore, Abu Dhabi recently launched one of the largest and most significant jiu-jitsu championships, "Abu Dhabi Extreme," which combines the unique strengths of MMA fighters with the strategic and technical aspects of jiu-jitsu players. Following its local success, it has been decided to roll out the championship globally across several world cities. The "Warriors of the Emirates" championships have also emerged recently and will continue in Abu Dhabi next month with editions 53, 54, and 55 scheduled over three days starting September 26, following its first international launch in Brazil last February.
For the second time this year, Abu Dhabi will host the global "UFC" championship at the Etihad Arena on October 26, featuring elite fighters from around the world. The first event took place on August 3. Following the successful organization of the "World Judo Championship" by the UAE Judo Federation in May, which celebrated its 37th edition, the federation will host the "Abu Dhabi Grand Slam" from October 18 to 20 as part of this year's international agenda.
