New Developments in the "Um Shahd" Case Involved with the "Terrorist of the Gathering"

New Developments in the

Lawyer Hani Samah submitted a request to the President of the Cairo Criminal Court regarding the trial of "Um Shahd," who is directly linked to the infamous "Terrorist of the Gathering" case. In Hani Samah's request, he stated: "Reopening the defense for Um Shahd, along with referring her lawyer to the Public Prosecution for disciplinary action regarding her violations of the noble duties of the legal profession, intentionally working to condemn her client who is accused and her desire for a death sentence against her."

The request added that the assigned defense attorney for the accused appeared on live media screens during the session on August 13, expressing her hope that the accused would be sentenced to death and stating that she refused to defend her client while deceiving the court to punish the accused.

The request continued: "The (defense attorney) provided a weak, formal defense (kind of/sort of) to ensure the conviction of the accused. When a journalist objected and reminded her of the obligations of the legal profession that require her to provide a true defense for the accused, she stated that she wished for the accused to be sentenced to death."

The request cited the dialogue where the attorney said: "Honestly, I’m telling you, I wish she gets the death penalty because it's too little for her," to which the journalist replied: "How can you be her lawyer, ma'am? You are supposed to defend her." The attorney responded: "I refuse the case but am defending it without enthusiasm, just any words."

Hani Samah continued in his request: "What the designated lawyer for 'Um Shahd' did constitutes several offenses that necessitate disciplinary action and removal from the legal profession records, and it is a disgrace to the legal profession, which began with Christ defending a woman by saying: 'Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her,' admonishing them and defending the woman."

The lawyer concluded his request by insisting on reopening the case for defense to achieve a genuine and objective defense for the accused, aiming for her acquittal as a constitutional and legal right and to achieve the foremost principle of justice. Additionally, he called for the accused's lawyer to be referred to the Public Prosecution for initiating disciplinary measures against her for violations of the noble duties of the legal profession and her intentional actions to condemn her client and seek her execution.

It is noteworthy that the defense attorney for "Um Shahd," involved with Karim "Terrorist of the Gathering," revealed details about her client's trial, who is accused of recruiting girls for the defendant to engage in immoral activities.

The defense attorney for "Um Shahd" indicated that "the relevant authorities charged the accused Hanan, known as Um Shahd, with human trafficking, trafficking her daughter Shahd, and exploiting unidentified and incapable girls in prostitution, taking advantage of their conditions and financial needs, and she also faces charges of engaging in immoral activities."

She added that "the accused did not stop at offering her daughter to the Terrorist of the Gathering but also engaged in immoral acts with him in his car, and these actions are seen as the primary reason that led her daughter Shahd to run away from her mother due to dissatisfaction with her life, which the accused admitted in court regarding offering her daughter to the terrorist."

Furthermore, she stated: "Although 'Um Shahd' recruited girls for the 'Terrorist of the Gathering' to engage in immoral activities, she was unaware of his sinister plan to dispose of them."

It is reported that the Cairo Criminal Court convened in the Fifth Settlement, presided over by Counselor Yasser Al-Ahmadawy, postponed the session for the trial of "Um Shahd," who is an accomplice of the Terrorist of the Gathering, regarding the accusation of recruiting women and presenting them to the main accused in the case, who engaged in immoral acts with them and disposed of them, to the session on September 9 for a verdict.
