Lawyer of the Victim's Family Reveals the Truth About the Agreement in the Zamalek Star Case

The lawyer for the victim's family, who died after being hit by a car driven by Zamalek star Ahmed Fathouh, revealed the truth about an alleged agreement for financial compensation amounting to 15 million Egyptian pounds (300,000 USD). The Matrouh Criminal Court decided on Monday to postpone the trial of the Zamalek player to September 16, while continuing his detention due to accusations related to the death of an individual while driving under the influence of hashish on coastal roads.

Shenouda Makarem, the lawyer for the victim's family, stated that the family received a delegation from Zamalek players and representatives, with the family's condition for the visit being strictly to offer condolences and not to discuss other matters such as financial settlements or requests for blood money. Makarem mentioned during a phone call on the program "Hadret Al-Muwatin" aired on "Al-Hadath Al-Youm" channel that the visiting delegation included several prominent club players like Abdel Wahed Sayyed and Shikabala, along with representatives from the board of directors.

The lawyer denied rumors circulated on social media about an agreement between the victim's family and Zamalek club regarding a financial compensation of 15 million pounds, emphasizing that the reconciliation matter is entirely dependent on the family's decision and consent, which has not been made as of now.

He added that the family only seeks justice and retribution, pointing out that the fair judiciary will take its legal course to hold accountable those responsible, regardless of who they may be, to receive their due punishment. Fathouh began his career in Zamalek's youth team, previously played for Enppi and Smouha, and represented the Egyptian national team in 28 international matches, where he scored one goal according to statistics from the global site "Transfermarkt."
