During her speech on the second day of the Democratic National Convention held in Chicago, former White House Press Secretary under President Donald Trump, Stephanie Grisham, dropped significant revelations. She declared her support for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris and stated that Trump mocks his supporters behind closed doors. She said, "I have seen him behind the cameras turned off... He mocks his voters behind closed doors.” Grisham also alleged that Trump refers to his supporters as "cave dwellers," implying their backwardness.
Grisham, who resigned following the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol by Trump supporters, emphasized that he has no morals and shows no empathy towards others. Additionally, she recounted asking then-First Lady Melania Trump shortly after the Capitol attack about the possibility of posting a message on social media condemning the violence, to which Melania replied curtly, “No.” Grisham subsequently resigned from her position in the White House.
It is noteworthy that Grisham is among many Republicans who participated in the Democratic National Convention. She stated in a message prior to her speech, "After witnessing firsthand who Donald Trump truly is and the threat he poses to our country, I decided to speak out." Trump is known for his sometimes quick temper and somewhat impulsive nature, which can lead to him not always choosing the right words for different contexts. He is also facing legal challenges with over 30 criminal charges. Nevertheless, he hopes to win the presidential race against Kamala Harris.
Recent polls show Harris slightly ahead of her Republican rival, with most voters expressing confidence in her, considering her trustworthy and sincere. Meanwhile, Trump appears stronger on issues of the economy and illegal immigration, with a majority of voters trusting his economic program and ability to improve conditions.
