Algerian security authorities arrested Tunisian political activist Ahmed Al-Safi Said and an accomplice this morning after they crossed the border into Algeria illegally, heading toward a neighboring country. According to a post on the "Mosaic" radio website: "In the context of monitoring the arrest and detention of political activist Ahmed Al-Safi Said and an accomplice for illegally crossing the Tunisian-Algerian border yesterday, Tuesday, it was learned that the National Border Guard team in Feriana, from the Kasserine Governorate, received information yesterday indicating that Algerian security authorities managed to apprehend Al-Safi Said and his companion at around seven in the morning after they crossed the border and advanced into Algerian territory from the Sidi Dhaher neighborhood in the Boudryas village of Fosana, at border markers 206 and 207." The radio reported, "The mentioned units arrested him and his accomplice and handed them over to the Algerian security authorities in the Bouchabek village in the Tébessa Governorate, awaiting their referral to the Al-Hojibat municipality in the White Water district and taking the necessary legal actions against them." It is worth noting that the spokesperson for the Kasserine courts, Riad Al-Nuwayi, stated yesterday to the radio that "the public prosecution at the Kasserine Primary Court has ordered the detention of political activist Al-Safi Said and his accomplice for illegally crossing the border toward a neighboring country."
