Under the patronage of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) is organizing the third edition of the Global AI Summit, featuring over 300 speakers and attended by numerous experts in artificial intelligence from 100 countries around the world. The event will take place from September 10 to 12, 2024, at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center in Riyadh.
This summit is considered one of the most significant global events in the field, eagerly awaited by professionals and enthusiasts worldwide. Riyadh will host international experts in artificial intelligence technologies, policymakers, and influential figures in the construction of these technologies as well as heads of tech companies. They will gather in Riyadh to formulate ideas and visions that contribute to establishing frameworks and ethical guidelines governing the use of artificial intelligence technologies, expanding the benefits of AI solutions, and accelerating development across various fields to build a better present and future for upcoming generations.
The summit aligns with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, led by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, aiming to make the Kingdom a global technology hub for the latest advanced technologies related to artificial intelligence.
Prominent international figures from the field of data and AI will participate in the summit, including: the Permanent State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport of Germany, Stefan Schnorr; the global head of AI technology at Nvidia, Professor Simon See; the CEO of the American AI company Bosen, Alex Smola; the CEO of Accenture, Julie Sweet; the CEO of Oliver Wyman, Nick Studer; the CEO of Qualcomm, Cristiano Amon; the UN Secretary-General's envoy on technology, Amandeep Gill; and the CEO of Dell Technologies, Douglas Schmitt, along with other notable names in the field from various nationalities.
The summit will witness the signing of several local and international agreements and memorandums of understanding, as well as the launching of international initiatives on behalf of the Kingdom, serving countries globally in the realm of data and AI technologies, in line with the Crown Prince's aspirations for Saudi Arabia to be a leading global model in AI, equipped with the capacity to adopt the latest trends and innovations in the field, and to support international efforts for the greater good of humanity.
Additionally, the summit will be attended by several dignitaries, ministers, heads of international organizations and bodies, CEOs of major tech companies worldwide, and a select group of data and AI scientists who will enrich the discussions on AI developments and their impact on the future of humanity, as well as optimizing the benefits of these technologies across all sectors.
The conference will include more than 120 panel discussions and workshops, during which speakers will showcase international interest in data and AI, discussing various topics such as innovation and industry in AI, turning points to shape a better future for AI, AI on local and global levels, the integration of human intelligence with AI, the relationship between data and applications, generative AI, ethics of AI, as well as AI processing and infrastructure, and AI's impact on smart city growth.
The third edition of the Global AI Summit builds on the successes of the previous two summits held in 2020 and 2022, which yielded positive results reflected in the launch of international projects and initiatives under the Kingdom's name, enhancing international cooperation on AI and its applications, including the establishment of the International Center for AI Research and Ethics. The summit represents a crucial turning point in the technological development journey of the Kingdom amidst the remarkable rise brought about by data and AI technologies.
The summit is one of the essential national events supporting the realization of Saudi Vision 2030 aimed at building a knowledge-based and technology-driven economy. It comes as part of the accelerated efforts to fulfill SDAIA's ambitious vision objectives, which are linked to 66 direct and indirect goals out of a total of 96 goals outlined in the vision.
