Netanyahu Tasks Mossad with Finding Host Nations for Displaced Gazans

According to a report by the American site "Axios," citing two Israeli officials, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has assigned the Mossad to find countries willing to accept large numbers of Palestinians displaced from the Gaza Strip. Discussions have reportedly been held with Somalia, South Sudan, and other nations, including Indonesia.

An Israeli official stated that the Mossad is continuing to work on this matter with several countries. The task was given to the Mossad secretly by Netanyahu a few weeks ago, and his office has not commented on the matter.

"Axios" notes that "Trump is not actively pursuing his plan to displace Palestinians at the moment," while his Middle East envoy, Steve Whitkoff, is focused on reaching a new agreement between Israel and Hamas to ensure the release of hostages and the restoration of a ceasefire, according to two American officials.

The Israeli effort is based on the "Gaza Riviera" vision proposed by Trump in his meeting with Netanyahu last February, which includes displacing two million Palestinians from the Gaza Strip for reconstructive purposes. Israel is advancing this step along with other measures to encourage "voluntary departure" of Palestinians from Gaza, paralleling renewed warfare and evacuation orders from various areas within the Strip.

Meanwhile, Netanyahu and other senior Israeli officials have vowed to occupy more land in Gaza if Hamas does not release the remaining hostages. Although Israeli officials have discussed a large-scale ground invasion of Gaza, it hasn't yet been ordered. Such an invasion would force most of the population towards a small "humanitarian zone" in the southern part of the Strip.

Last Sunday, the Israeli Defense Ministry announced the establishment of a special agency tasked with facilitating the "voluntary" departure of Palestinians from Gaza, a move condemned by an Israeli anti-settlement NGO. The ministry confirmed that the Security Cabinet has approved the plan to set up a department dedicated to the "voluntary departure of Gaza residents to another country."

The plan proposed by U.S. President Trump to remove Palestinians from the Gaza Strip has been opposed by the Palestinian Authority, numerous Arab countries, and most Western nations. Several countries agreed to receive small numbers of Palestinian patients, mostly children, from Gaza, while no country has accepted large numbers of Palestinians from Gaza. Both Egypt and Jordan strongly opposed Trump's plans to relocate large numbers of Palestinians to their countries.

It is noted that approximately 90% of Gaza's population has been displaced due to war, with over 50,000 killed, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
