In his Eid al-Fitr sermon on Monday, Iranian leader Ali Khamenei threatened the United States and Israel with a "strong and equivalent response" should they attack Iran.
Khamenei stated, "Our positions are firm and have not changed. They threaten us with aggressive actions, but they should know that if any aggression is committed, they will undoubtedly receive a severe and equivalent blow."
He added, "If the enemies think of stirring unrest within the country, the Iranian people themselves will respond to them."
He further commented, "They accuse the peoples and the free of the region of dependency. In this region, there is one proxy power, and that is the criminal and oppressive Zionist entity. They accuse those defending their countries of terrorism while the criminal entity commits crimes and carries out assassinations. The roots of this malignant entity must be uprooted from the land of Palestine—a religious, moral, and humanitarian duty."
Khamenei emphasized Iran's position by saying, "Our stance remains firm in enmity towards the United States and the Zionist entity."
