The Egyptian Court of Cassation has rejected the appeal submitted by actor Shady Khalaf against his three-year prison sentence for sexually assaulting 7 women and attempting to rape them during an acting workshop. This decision follows a ruling by the Cairo Criminal Court in February 2022, sentencing Shady Khalaf to three years of hard labor on several charges related to indecent assault and harassment of women attending acting classes at his private workshop.
The defense of the accused had filed an appeal with the Court of Cassation, citing claims of denial of the right to defense and flaws in the reasoning. However, the court rejected the appeal and upheld the ruling, making it enforceable.
Shady Khalaf is an Egyptian actor and acting coach who studied at the "London Film School" and has starred in numerous films, including "Chaos, This Is," "When Things Get Better," "Stolen Kisses," "Abdo Mota," "365 Days of Happiness," and others. He won the Best Actor award at the Alexandria Mediterranean Countries Film Festival for his role in "Stolen Kisses" and founded the "Zat" studio.
