New Details About Maradona's Death Revealed in Court

As the details of football legend Diego Maradona's death continue to emerge during the ongoing trial against his medical team on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, forensic experts have disclosed more information.

On Tuesday, the court heard testimonies from forensic experts involved in the autopsy of the late star. They confirmed that Maradona's heart was larger than normal and that he suffered from liver fibrosis.

Additionally, they stated that no traces of alcohol or drugs were found in his body at the time of his death.

Forensic expert Alejandro Ezequiel Vega testified in court that Maradona's heart was "enlarged," weighing 503 grams, whereas the normal weight ranges between 250 and 300 grams.

He also explained that examining the heart revealed that Maradona suffered from "chronic blood flow and oxygen deficiency" due to chronic cardiac ischemia.

The autopsy report confirmed that the cause of death was an acute pulmonary edema resulting from congestive heart failure, as reported by the Associated Press.

It is worth noting that Maradona, who led Argentina to the 1986 World Cup title, passed away on November 25, 2020, at the age of 60 in his home on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, just days after undergoing surgery to remove a blood clot from between his skull and brain.
