Syrian President Ahmed Al-Shara condemned Israel's attempts to destabilize southern Syria.
The Syrian state news channel, Al-Ikhbariya, quoted Al-Shara saying: "The Israeli entity is once again trying to turn our sacred land into an endless chaos, aiming to dismantle our unity and weaken our capabilities to advance in the path of reconstruction and revival."
He added, "Syria is not a testing ground for foreign conspiracies or a place to fulfill others' ambitions."
Al-Shara's remarks followed the incursion of Israeli forces into the villages of Abdin, Jumlah, and Tall al-Mughr in Syria's southern Daraa province, which were subjected to artillery shelling and helicopter airstrikes on Monday.
Al-Ikhbariya reported that local inhabitants resisted the Israeli forces, which had set up checkpoints in their villages.
The Civil Defense reported several injuries and material damage as a result of the shelling on June 29. In response, the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent a letter to the United Nations Security Council highlighting the Israeli military operations in the southern provinces of Daraa and Quneitra, describing them as violations of the 1974 disengagement agreement between Israeli and Syrian forces in the Golan Heights.
