Today, Minister of Economy and Trade Amer Bassat announced a decision to reduce the price of the Lebanese white bread loaf by 5,000 Lebanese Pounds. This decision aligns with his directive to ensure the recent drop in fuel prices and global costs are reflected in local prices, according to a statement from his media office.
Under this directive, the price for a medium-sized bread loaf in bakery outlets across Lebanon has decreased to 70,000 Lebanese Pounds (down from 75,000 Lebanese Pounds), while the price for a small loaf has been reduced to 45,000 Lebanese Pounds (down from 50,000 Lebanese Pounds).
This decision is accompanied by intensified regulatory campaigns by the Ministry of Economy and Trade, through the Consumer Protection Directorate, aiming to control any violations of the new pricing and to ensure bakeries comply with the specified rates.
