Neymar and Norwegian Goalkeeper Clash During World Cup Showdown

A Brazilian report has unveiled the details of a tense exchange between star player Neymar Da Silva and Norwegian goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland, which took place during a penalty kick at the dying moments of their World Cup 2026 match.

Nyland captured attention after engaging in a heated confrontation with Neymar as the game neared its conclusion, following the award of a stoppage-time penalty to Brazil.

Nyland attempted to unsettle Neymar by making comments described as provocative by Brazil's "O Globo". Neymar later responded after successfully converting the penalty.

The exchange began when Neymar positioned the ball on the penalty spot, prompting Nyland to approach and boldly declare, "I will stop you, I will stop you." Neymar replied, "Which side do you want me to place the ball?".

With precision, Neymar struck the ball into Nyland's left corner, who made no move to dive, securing Brazil's sole goal of the match.

After the goal, Neymar returned to Nyland and teasingly remarked, "Not this time, not this time," with a laugh.

Earlier, Nyland had successfully saved another penalty attempt in the first half by Bruno Guimarães.

Led by Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti, the Brazilian team exited the World Cup in the Round of 16. Meanwhile, Norway, making its return to the World Cup for the first time since 1998, advanced to the quarter-finals and is set to face England.
