Pakistan Urges US and Iran for Restraint After Ceasefire Collapse

Pakistan has called on the United States and Iran to exercise restraint following the collapse of a three-week ceasefire, emphasizing that renewed military confrontation is "in no one's interest."

In a statement, Pakistan's foreign ministry urged all parties to adhere to the memorandum of understanding brokered by Islamabad, cautioning that continued escalation could have serious repercussions on regional and international security and stability.

This position from Pakistan comes amid renewed military escalation, with Iran's Revolutionary Guard announcing drone and missile attacks on US military bases in Kuwait and Bahrain, in retaliation for new oil sanctions imposed by Washington on Tehran.

In response, Qatar, Egypt, and the Gulf Cooperation Council condemned the attacks, calling for de-escalation and a return to diplomatic efforts to ensure regional security.

The escalation follows US President Donald Trump's announcement of the end of the ceasefire with Iran, threatening to expand military operations if attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman continue.

Observers warn that continuous confrontations may push the region toward a broader conflict, as reciprocal strikes intensify and international calls grow to contain the crisis and resume negotiations.
