Iran’s Foreign Minister to Visit Oman Amid Hormuz Strait Tensions

The Iranian news agency 'IRNA' reported that Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will embark on an official visit to Oman on Saturday, leading a diplomatic delegation. The visit aims to discuss bilateral relations and regional developments, with a particular focus on the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.

This visit follows heightened regional tensions after military strikes exchanged between Iran and the United States, subsequent to attacks on commercial ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

On July 8 and 9, US forces carried out a series of strikes inside Iran, stating that the operations were in response to attacks on commercial vessels in the strait. Later, Tehran announced retaliatory strikes targeting US bases in Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan.

This marks the second escalation between Washington and Tehran since a memorandum of understanding aimed at halting hostilities was signed in mid-June. US President Donald Trump announced that the ceasefire agreement is no longer in effect, thereby increasing the importance of regional diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the crisis.
