The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Esmail Baghaei, has issued a stark warning that Iran will not remain passive in the face of U.S. aggression, emphasizing that the Iranian armed forces will respond "with strength and capability" to any attacks targeting Iranian soil or citizens.
Baghaei asserted that Iran will take all necessary measures to protect its security and interests, highlighting that the armed forces have proven in the past that any aggression against Iranian territory will be met with a direct and decisive response. He stated that Tehran will not allow any hostile actions to go unanswered.
He also mentioned that Iran's commitments are conditional on the other party honoring its obligations. Baghaei noted that Tehran has suspended the implementation of some of its commitments following what he described as the U.S.'s breach of agreements, pointing out that any understanding holds no value for Iran unless it guarantees their national security and interests.
In a related context, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharib Abadi reiterated that the Iranian armed forces are dealing firmly with what he termed as U.S. aggressive actions, asserting that Washington had previously tried this approach without achieving its goals, facing "failure and defeat," in his words.
These statements come amidst escalating tensions between the United States and Iran, following U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement on July 8 of the end of the ceasefire. This has led to a resumption of military operations between both sides, despite the signing of the "Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding" last June, which aimed to halt the conflict and resolve disputes through diplomatic channels.
